The Hood

I don't normally see my neighborhood in the day time, but now that we walk Frank in the afternoons I get to see it, in all its quaint and dilapidated beauty.
Our neighborhood is just a stone's throw from midtown, one if the more desirable parts of this city. Crossing Broadway is like going to the wrong side of the tracks.
When the economy crashed, people started abandoning houses. Some were smart and continued to occupy their homes until the were forcibly removed by the banks. On the next block over from my street, there are no fewer than 15 homes that were foreclosed, at least 4 that have been boarded up or deemed uninhabitable.
The ones pictured here are now homes to squatters and vermin, occasional venues for prostitutes and drug users. Its a sad picture of the condition of our economy.
