tonight, on our walk, she did this funny thing. she jumped up onto a brick post, and was checking out the stone lion on top of it. it was cute, just had to share.

cats and dogs living together
and walking together too. lately, one of the local stray cats has been coming on walks with us, keeping Frank company and keeping other dogs at bay. she is an acrobat, a hunter, a protector. she checks in on local litters, she seems to know just about all the other local cats, she can jump about five feet high, and i've seen her climb telephone poles to about 8 feet. she's chased off small dogs that have the nerve to come after Frank, and she's never wanted anything from us but attention. since she came to hang out at our house, she's kept the old homestead free of rats, mice and cockroaches. she's hunted and killed squirrels, i catch her snuggling up with injured cats, i've seen her teach orphaned kittens how to hunt. in short, she's just a really cool cat.

Awww, a protector kitty for Frankie and your home. She looks like a fierce one.
ReplyDeleteshe is pretty awesome. she started hanging out at our house two years ago, i even remember the day i first saw her. she was sleeping on top of our trash can. she was super skinny, looked abandoned. she shied away from me at first, but was so starved for food and attention she let me pet her and take her photo. i laid a little food out for her, and she was back the next day for more food and attention. since then she's been a part of our cat klatsch, sometimes she rushes the door and tries to come into the house. i'd love to, but i'd feel obliged to let all the other strays in too. anyway, i love having her on our walks, and even Frank will wait on her if she decides to stop and check out a house. i think he might actually wait for her to tag along at the start of the walk.
ReplyDeletejames suggested i make a video of our walks. she is so cute and the two of them walking side by side is adorable. i'll have to start taking walks in the daytime.
